Au commencement surtout, il y a la main. La main comme motif, et toujours la main qui cr\u00e9e, fa\u00e7onne et anime.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Ces images simples \u00e0 l\u2019arri\u00e8re go\u00fbt de r\u00e9cit originel t\u00e9moignent de l\u2019attachement de l\u2019artiste \u00e0 l\u2019imagerie populaire. Elles laissent deviner son passage par l\u2019\u00c9cole sup\u00e9rieure d\u2019art d\u2019\u00c9pinal apr\u00e8s des \u00e9tudes slalomant entre g\u00e9ologie et cr\u00e9ation de costumes, mues par le double d\u00e9sir de conna\u00eetre le monde et de le travestir. Le travail artistique n\u2019est-il pas apr\u00e8s tout la r\u00e9union de ces deux obsessions ? Ses \u00e9tudes achev\u00e9es en 2010 \u00e0 l\u2019\u00c9cole Nationale Sup\u00e9rieure d\u2019Art de Nancy, Anne-\u00c9milie Philippe nous invite \u00e0 d\u00e9couvrir un travail pr\u00e9cis de r\u00e9v\u00e9lation de formes \u00e0 partir d\u2019images imprim\u00e9es et d\u2019objets model\u00e9s.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Ses \u0153uvres exercent une discr\u00e8te fascination sur le regardeur. Travaillant des mat\u00e9riaux d\u2019un abord ordinaire &#8211; papier, tissu, post-it \u2013 voire m\u00eame trivial &#8211; pour ses recherches sur les collants et mouchoirs, elle leur conf\u00e8re une certaine pr\u00e9ciosit\u00e9 en y figeant une image. L\u2019impression et le fa\u00e7onnage, parfois manuels ou proches d\u2019un artisanat ancien, sont toujours d\u2019une infime pr\u00e9cision. Assemblages, d\u00e9multiplications, superpositions, choix de mati\u00e8res, traitement des couleurs mettent \u00e0 mal l\u2019iconographie et invitent \u00e0 une d\u00e9c\u00e9l\u00e9ration du regard.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Ses \u0153uvres s\u2019inscrivent dans une dur\u00e9e. La temporalit\u00e9 de leur r\u00e9alisation est manifest\u00e9e par le mode de production, souvent perceptible : r\u00e9p\u00e9tition d\u2019un m\u00eame motif photocopi\u00e9, technique d\u2019impression longue, collecte d\u2019image&#8230; Elles imposent surtout de prendre ce temps. Il s\u2019agit alors de feuilleter un objet \u00e9dit\u00e9, de cuire un livre (<i>The Two Matches<\/i>, 2013) ou de le laver (<i>Presque la mer<\/i>, 2015) comme pour en parachever la cr\u00e9ation. L\u2019\u0153uvre, par sa nature comme par les gestes qu\u2019elle requiert pour \u00eatre d\u00e9couverte, sollicite un engagement subtil mais r\u00e9el et exigeant\u00a0: ralentir son regard pour d\u00e9couvrir qu\u2019une image est constitu\u00e9e d\u2019une multitude de motifs identiques, comme un ressac visuel, aiguiser son attention aux d\u00e9tails et laisser l\u2019esprit ou la main compl\u00e9ter le travail de l\u2019artiste.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Ses recherches s\u2019attachent avant tout au moment o\u00f9 l\u2019image, en train de se produire ou de se d\u00e9truire, se manifeste. Dans la performance <i>Instant T (How to wear a landscape)<\/i> (2014), un groupe de femmes portant des collants s\u00e9rigraphi\u00e9s par l\u2019artiste, un moment dispers\u00e9 dans l\u2019espace d\u2019exposition, se r\u00e9unit devant une \u0153uvre : la vue d\u2019une montagne prend forme dans l\u2019alignement de leurs bas. Les images se manifestent souvent avec cette sorte d\u2019aura proche de la magie de la cr\u00e9ation, dans ce moment de la reconnaissance, l\u2019eur\u00eaka du cr\u00e9ateur. <i>Images fant\u00f4mes<\/i> (travail en cours) \u0153uvre \u00e0 cette lisi\u00e8re : la photographie d\u2019une montagne, imprim\u00e9e sur un tissu d\u00e9tram\u00e9, flotte, \u00e0 la limite du perceptible. Le geste de l\u2019artiste r\u00e9alise un grand \u00e9cart entre ces deux p\u00f4les : entre imprimer l\u2019image du ciel (ou celui de la mer) \u2013 soit aplanir et segmenter un espace sans borne \u2013 et d\u00e9mat\u00e9rialiser ou mettre en mouvement l\u2019image de la montagne. C\u2019est un travail de manifestation d\u2019une r\u00e9alit\u00e9 tangible dans un support instable et vice versa ; une transsubstantiation.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Il y a aussi quelque chose de l\u2019ordre de l\u2019alchimie dans l\u2019intervention r\u00e9currente de processus naturels, venant contrarier ou remplacer les techniques contemporaines d\u2019impression. La d\u00e9coloration due \u00e0 l\u2019exposition aux rayons du soleil est au c\u0153ur de plusieurs de ses travaux, conduisant \u00e0 l\u2019alt\u00e9ration ou \u00e0 la cr\u00e9ation, volontaire ou non, d\u2019une image. Dans la s\u00e9rie de posters <i>Post-digital print<\/i> auquel appartient <i>La L\u00e9vitation de l\u2019ananas<\/i>, les mains soutenant le fruit, imprim\u00e9es en rouge, s\u2019att\u00e9nuent au fil des semaines d\u2019exposition, la couleur choisie pour l\u2019impression lithographique \u00e9tant la plus sensible \u00e0 la d\u00e9gradation aux rayons lumineux. Dans <i>Sunset universel<\/i> (2012), c\u2019est une image trouv\u00e9e qui est \u00e0 l\u2019origine du tirage grand format, celle d\u2019un coucher de soleil \u00e0 l\u2019horizon laiss\u00e9 dans le pli du rabat d\u2019une enveloppe, d\u00e9lav\u00e9e par le soleil. Anne-\u00c9milie Philippe exp\u00e9rimente \u00e9galement diff\u00e9rentes techniques d\u2019impression, plus ou moins personnelles, faisant intervenir directement la lumi\u00e8re du soleil. Pour la pi\u00e8ce<i> Matin et soir<\/i>, elle s\u2019empare d\u2019un ancien proc\u00e9d\u00e9 photographique par lequel une image monochrome n\u00e9gative, le cyanotype, s\u2019obtient par exposition \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re. Elle cr\u00e9e alors des empreintes solaires de rubans de M\u00f6bius qu\u2019elle a pr\u00e9alablement fa\u00e7onn\u00e9s en c\u00e9ramique, blanches sur fond bleu. En raison du volume et des formes des objets \u2018photographi\u00e9s\u2019, la technique est difficilement reconnaissable au premier abord. Les contours nets et les contrastes tranch\u00e9s propres \u00e0 ce m\u00e9dium laissent place \u00e0 de douces transitions toutes en nuances, le soleil ayant dans sa course tourn\u00e9 autour des c\u00e9ramiques. Avec <i>Changer d\u2019\u00e9tat (Trouble)<\/i>, elle poursuit ses recherches \u00e0 partir de la cyanotypie avec des mains fabriqu\u00e9es en colle \u00e0 reliure, leur mati\u00e8re en transparence et leur disposition produisant une autre image, les plis bleus et blancs \u00e9voquant le creux des vagues.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Les images d\u2019Anne-\u00c9milie Philippe sont ainsi souvent en r\u00e9serve, se d\u00e9tachant sur un fond neutre, ou trait\u00e9es en un nombre de teintes limit\u00e9es (rarement celles qui correspondent \u00e0 la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 des objets repr\u00e9sent\u00e9s). Le bleu est une couleur r\u00e9currente de son travail, \u00ab couleur de mes r\u00eaves \u00bb dirait Mir\u00f3. La simplicit\u00e9 de ces traitements rappelle l\u2019intensit\u00e9 avec laquelle Jacques Ellul invite \u00e0 la contemplation, comme possibilit\u00e9 de renouvellement du regard et de la pens\u00e9e : \u00ab Si vous voulez \u00eatre v\u00e9ritablement r\u00e9volutionnaire dans cette soci\u00e9t\u00e9, soyez des contemplatifs. \u00bb<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Peu importe leur origine, trouv\u00e9es ou cr\u00e9\u00e9es par l\u2019artiste, ce qui guide Anne-\u00c9milie Philippe est cette capacit\u00e9 qu\u2019ont ces images \u00e0 se laisser transformer par un traitement plastique, r\u00e9duit au minimal, et \u00e0 donner naissance \u00e0 une image autre, \u00ab un \u00e9cho-chaos o\u00f9 se trouvent toutes les images \u00bb. Dans l\u2019image-type, r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9e ou d\u00e9grad\u00e9e, se forge une libert\u00e9 de regard.
